Save the Date - May 12, 2020

Good morning,

We hope that you are your family are doing well!  Here at the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, we are working hard to prepare for the weeks ahead and we hope that you stay safe and well during this time.  We have a very exciting event coming up in just five short weeks and we have tasked ourselves with a lofty goal that we believe is attainable thanks to supporters like you that have stepped up time and time again to help support our mission.

The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation Board and Staff have set a goal to raise $10,000 in 24 hours during Kentucky Gives Day on May 12, 2020.  We know that the the past few weeks have been unusual to say the least. Although we are currently living in uncertain times, what is certain is that the need for vision care and the work that the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation is still doing - and will continue to do after this Pandemic - is needed more than ever.

Our Board and Staff are still working, although remotely.  Our Board will be accepting applications and nominations for new board members and preparing for the months ahead, leading into our next fiscal year.  Our staff is still accepting and processing applications for our Patron and Holloran programs, providing referral resources to those in need of assistance with eyeglasses and communicating with our volunteers and facilities regarding our KidSight and Vision Van programs. We are taking this time to enroll in free online training courses, preparing grant proposals and doing what we can to stay in touch with our volunteers, supporters and friends of the Foundation.  We are gearing up for future events, such as our golf scramble in October and plan to announce further details later this month so stay tuned.

If you have been watching any local news or keeping up to date with the Governor's daily press conferences, you have probably heard these words repeatedly, "We are all in this together," which is exactly true not only in the COVID-19 situation but also in our efforts to raise funds to support the mission of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation on Kentucky Gives Day.  We have a lot of things to look forward to when this crisis is over, but we don't have to wait until then to have a reason to celebrate.  Again, "We are all in this together," so if we all come together, pitch in to help in any way that we can, we can be celebrating at the end of the day on May 12th.  We hope that YOU will please join us in celebrating on May 12th by actively participating in and helping us promote Kentucky Gives Day!

HOW CAN YOU AND/OR YOUR CLUB HELP NOW?

We are respectfully requesting that ALL MD-43 Lions Clubs please consider providing a matching grant donation to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation to help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 during Kentucky Gives Day.

Statistics show that organizations participating in Kentucky Gives Day that have matching funds raise an average of 4.5 times more than those without a match. A matching gift will help to drive donors to act now and provides additional incentive for their gift. Ultimately, your matching gift will help us further our mission even more.

Clubs or individuals who would like to make a matching grant donation of any amount can mail a check made payable to KLEF to our office (301 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, KY 40202) before May 1, 2020 to help us reach our goal on KY Gives Day.
